Case study – The SMART solution

Lloyd International localises a new multimedia smartphone in record time to enable its rapid roll-out across Europe

The issue
Having successfully helped a global mobile phone manufacturer with previous product launches, Lloyd International was the clear choice to support roll-out of its new multimedia smartphone in France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Portugal and Spain. The client is renowned for continuous innovation and during the last three years Lloyd International has been entrusted with all the company’s product localisation in every major world market. In an industry where time-to-market is key, it was crucial to meet demanding launch deadlines whilst maintaining the highest quality and consistency.

The solution
The new phone features highly advanced video, audio, camera, connectivity and internet functionality. For each target market the whole product needed to be localised – including messages, fonts, help files, third-party software, user guide, quick-start manual, accessories manual, marketing materials, packaging and web content – over 130,000 words in all. As with any fast-evolving hi-tech product, constant technical updates had to be incorporated while meeting exacting budget requirements and aggressive timelines.

Lloyd International provided the following solutions to maximise speed, security, flexibility and value without compromising quality:
